James Tahhan

Born in Los Teques, Venezuela, James Tahhan comes from a numerous family of Arabic-Armenian descent. Since he was just a kid, he spent many hours of his childhood in the kitchen along with his parents Mimi and Bashir. As a child, he learned a lot from one of his dad’s friends. David Abal, a neighbor and professional Chef from Galician descent, who taught him the basic abilities that a six-year-old could learn from the kitchen.
James came to the United States with his mother at the age of 13. At that time James was overweight and it was here when James started learning that his passion for cooking could go along with a healthy diet.〔(An Interview with Chef James Tahhan )〕
He decided to enroll at Le Cordon Bleu University, where he pursued the specialization of international cuisine and pastries. While studying Tahhan started his own catering business, which he called Avokado.
